Power posture: 3 do’s and Don’ts with back pain
Back pain is a common pain that affects most of the local population and the worldwide population at large. There are many things that may contribute to lower back pain and discomfort. Today we will discuss 3 things you should do and 3 things you shouldn’t do in order to have a power posture that will help reduce lower back pain and spasm.
How should you stand?
Do: Stand with head and chest upright. Shoulders open and relaxed.
For men: Attempt to show off an imaginary necktie.
For Women: Attempt to show off an imaginary pearl necklace
Don’t: Stand with shoulders rounded and knees bent
How should you sit?
Do: Sit for only 20-30 minutes at a time!
Set an alarm while working to remind you to get up and stretch!
Don’t: Sit in a couched position
This puts more pressure on your spine and discs
How should you lay down?
Do: Lay on our side or back with a pillow for support
Don’t: Avoid sleeping on your stomach
This puts the spine in an awkward position and places more pressure on the spine.
